The primary mission of the EOH Meta Foundation, a not for profit charitable institution, is to provide stewardship and support to the Board of Directors, management, staff and volunteers of the Meta Centre.
Like the Meta Centre, we envision a community where the valuing of people on the basis of their uniqueness and not their disabilities serves as a guiding principle in the development of productive and happy lives.
We help translate this vision into action through the provision of resources necessary to maintain, improve and expand the extraordinary quality of service and care that have made the Meta Centre a leader in its field. In particular, The Foundation has:
- purchased the building at 401 Champagne Drive in North York for the Meta Centre flagship day program;
- purchased additional 3 residences (for a total of 18 homes) to provide 24-hour, 7-day per week support for individuals with high support needs;
- helps cover operating costs of 19 vehicles to transport individuals to and from recreational, social and other events in the community;
- fully equipped the Snoezelen Room so that day and Saturday program participants who have different support needs can engage in sensory enhancing activities and therapy through specially designed equipment; and
- funded all recreational Saturday, March Break and Summer Programs in which participants get to meet others, participate in community life and experience new activities.
